What I liked in each essay was that they were all based on real life, I liked how she used humor but also the more serious stories included lessons learned and her real feelings during the times. Example of using humor was when she said "laughter over took me with silent, involuntary gasps. Lily's furrowed eyebrows and entrenched feet only made me more hysterical."(Hanging with horses) Examples of a more serious tone were "That day in 1981, I not only lost a patient, but also a beloved friend"(Letting go) and when she said "Although my body looked the same, pieces were missing."(Dissection) I think the 3 essays I read spoke a lot to me because not that they necessarily relate to me in any way but they just made me thankful and realize how something serious could happen to me. My direct links give the essay more power for me as a reader because they taught me life lessons and really opened my eyes to see what a person can go through, I have learned a lot by reading these essays and I know one thing for sure; never take life for granted and always enjoy the funny moments.
