Kristi Gustafson Barlette
Poise: I think Kristi was very comfortable during her presentation/speech because she made great eye contact with all of us and was a very interesting person to listen to. When Mrs. Barlette swore by accident in front of our class I thought she handled it very well. I know that can be embarrassing but by the way she was sincere about apologizing, I thought that showed a lot of character.
Clarity: I thought by having someone from the Times Union come talk to us as a class that there might be some big words used and maybe I wouldn't understand everything they said, lucky this wasn't the situation. While Kristi was talking I thought her vocabulary was very unique in the way that she never used the same adjective more then once and really made connections to our class. I think she did a great way of clarifying what she said and she really talked in a 10th grade understanding.
Volume: I thought her volume was perfect. Kristi always made sure she was clear on what she was saying and also said everything in way we could all understand. Kristi's volume was great, she was never too loud or too quiet.
Information: The biggest information or suggestion I got out of Kristi's speech was when she was saying how she never thought she would get a job working at the Times Union and now she has proved everyone wrong. I think her information was very useful because, I really got inspired when she was talking about you how you shouldn't give up on something you want to do or something you love. I learned a lot from her past experiences and her mistakes and hopefully one day I'll be able to use those experiences to my advantage
Organization: I think the organization was good but not great. Sometimes she went off on a tangent, but other than that she answered everyone's questions honestly and thoroughly. I believe when she was talking everyone could put themselves in her shoes and feel how she felt when she was going through everything. Kristi's organization was good in a way it kept focus for the most part.
My Role: I think my role wasn't the best because I didn't talk or ask questions. I am the type of person in an audience I'd rather listen then talk because I didn't feel I could add anything at a specific time to the conversation and also almost all of my questions were asked. I think listening is also really important because you learn more by soaking in the information.
Did I like the speaker?
I thought overall Kristi was a very good speaker, she was interesting and funny. I would recommend her to come next year because I learned a lot and hopefully everyone else did. I thought the conversation was very good and overall every seemed to enjoy it.

Opinion Prompt #2. Child testimonies in abuse cases are not credible.
I disagree with this statement because I believe that children are the most important part of the testimonies. If you have a sexual or physical abuse case dealing with a child, the only way to know what happened is through that child. Say a child was getting hit by a parent, you would only take the story from the parent and not the child at all? The kid is who your suppose to be protecting and if you can't get a statement from them, how is this case even going to survive? I believe that child testimonies in abuse cases are credible because they're the ones who are dealing with the abuse, they're the ones going through the pain, their testimonies will help them receive the justice they deserve.

I Want to Write About #86. Write about seeing the ocean or mountains.
The last time I saw the ocean was this past summer. I went to St. Petersburg, Florida with my family. The sun was beating down on all of us as we made our way to the ocean. I saw seagulls passing by waving there long wings. The water was crystal clear and the sun was sparkling on it. I could see the sand beneath the water and the waves rolled in making their calming noise. The sand under my toes was warm and soft, It was like walking on a cloud. Riding the wave runner only made the beach ten times better. As I pressed the gas the warm, thick as brushed against me. I rode miles out with my brother on the one next to me, we saw fishes flop out of the water and the dolphins go under the jet ski and jump out after coming up. The fins appearing right next to us made us want to jump in. The beach is always a calming place, a place to clear your mind of all your worries and be stress free. I wish I was there right now so hear the waves crashing, people laughing and the wave runners zooming across the opened ocean. The last time I was by the ocean I didn't have one thing on my mind. What I would do to see the ocean again.

J for Jamaica
Jamaica
If I someday I would like to travel to Jamaica I would mostly like to go to YS falls because it has beautiful waterfalls, Blue hole mineral spring because it's a great "water resort." I don't really like to play golf but my family does, so I would want to check out White witch Golf club along with Hooves because I love horses and this is a "guided horseback riding adventure." My favorite thing to do on vacations is see nice water and breath taking views. Therefore I would want to visit White river because its a pretty "body of water" along with H'Evans Scent because I read about how it has amazing "hills with great views." One last thing I would love to do is go on the Rainforest Bobsled because its an adventure for the entire family. Jamaica seems like such an amazing place, I would go in a heartbeat.
